Programs
The ILF's programs provide books to remote Communities where books and literacy resources can sometimes be scarce.
We also support the publication of books by and for First Nations Communities, support early literacy programs with resources, and mentor young people and adults in writing, illustrating, digital literacy, and other areas.

Core Programs

Mentorship Programs
Create Initiative

Pamela Lofts Bequest
A 5-day workshop focusing on storytelling through art with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth from remote NT and WA.

ILF’s programs are Community-led - enabling access to the resources that Communities request
Remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Communities should be able to determine how to best teach and educate their children.
The ILF supports literacy through books in language, prioritising connection to language and Country, centering culture, and following cultural protocols in all aspects of our work.
This ensures that remote Communities gain access to quality and relevant resources, including books in First Languages, publishing Community stories and supporting Communities and families to lead the entire process to ensure leadership, ownership, and authenticity is held with Community Elders and residents.
